The Executive Secretary, National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO), Dr. Barclays Foubiri Ayakoroma, has commended President Goodluck Jonathan’s appointment of the former Chairman, Editorial Board of The Guardian Newspaper, Dr. Reuben Abati, as the Special Adviser, Media and Communications, describing it as well-deserved.

Ayakoroma, who stated this in a letter titled: “Congratulations on Your Well-Deserved Appointment,” to Abati, added that the appointment has been widely applauded by media professionals and Nigerians in general, who have held Abati in very high esteem.

Highlighting Abati’s sound academic, intellectual, articulate and eloquent disposition and the trail he had blazed in the media, Ayakoroma posited: “On behalf of the management and staff of the National Institute for Cultural Orientation, I heartily congratulate you on your well-deserved appointment as Special Adviser to the President on Media, by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR. Your appointment like that of Senator Pius Anyim Pius as SGF has been applauded, which reflects the yearning of Nigerians for very credible persons to be appointed into public office’’

The ES also added that there is no doubt that with Abati’s background and ability to discharge his duties credibly, he will bring his invaluable wealth of experience in the media to bear in propagating government programmes and policies, hence constructively re-energizing the mass media for national development.
