Impressed with the commitment of members of staff in the North-Central Zone towards the organization of the 2nd Edition of Nigerian Indigenous Language Programme (NILP) in Ilorin, Kwara State, the Executive Secretary, Dr. Barclays Foubiri Ayakoroma, has commended members of staff in the Zone.

The Executive Secretary made this commendation during an interactive session with members of staff shortly after the opening ceremony of the NILP, saying that he was particularly impressed with the Zonal Coordinator, Mr. James Imohiosen, for working out modalities with the management of Royal Shekinah Suites to procure a befitting hall for the programme.

Dr. Ayakoroma noted that this year’s edition was better than the 2010 edition, when the Director of Admin and Human Resources, Barr. Abayomi Oyelola mni, represented him, as the reports he received then were not encouraging.

The NICO boss opined that the success of the NILP in the North-Central Zone and all other zones is a testimony of the fruitfulness of the 2011 Kaduna Retreat and similar programmes NICO has had over the period.

He therefore admonished staff not to be contented with what they have done and advised them to initiate programmes even as they sustain the contacts they have made to promote the objectives of NICO in the zone, and challenged them to think beyond Kwara State as it is just the headquarters of the North-Central Zone, stating, “you have to justify your existence as a zone”.

Dr. Ayakoroma further charged the staff to be alive to their responsibilities, as “spectators do not win prizes”, adding that, “your services are needed wherever you are and when you are faithful in little things, then God will give you a bigger assignment”.

The Executive Secretary, who also challenged them to build on their successes, disclosed that by next year, Zonal Co-ordinators will be encouraged to witness what was happening in other zones, reiterating that, “what is good is good; North-Central Zone has done well”.

Several issues ranging from promotion, annual increment, staff Identity Cards and other related matters, which were raised by staff in the zone were exhaustively addressed by the Executive Secretary.

Also in the meeting were the Director of Admin and Human Resources, Barr. Abayomi Oyelola mni, Deputy Director/SA to ES, Hon. Nelson Campbell, and the Assistant Director (Protocol), Mr. Alex Omijie.
