The Director of Ondo State Ministry of Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. E. A. Adelayi, has advised the South West Zonal Office of of the National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO), not to relent on the Nigerian Indigenous Language Programme (NILP), as the programme is a laudable one that aims at reviving our dying cultures, stressing that without language, there would be no culture.

Mr. Adelayi, who made this call while welcoming the new Zonal Head, Mr. Ohi Ojo, to his office in Akure, in continuation of the Zonal Head’s familiarization programme, advised Mr. Ojo to continue with the good work started by his predecessor, Mr. Louis Eriomala.

He also appealed to the Federal Government to strengthen NICO as “the only Cultural Institute in the country that is working fervently towards sustaining our culture and harnessing our cultural heritage for sustainable development.”

The Director also urged the Zonal Head to interact with the managements of media houses in Akure, as this will aid NICO SWZ in extending its tentacles, and pledged his continued support and collaboration with NICO SWZ.

In his address, the Zonal Head, Mr. Ohi Ojo, thanked the Director for his warm reception and for the collaboration NICO SWZ had last year with his ministry, adding that he will build on the foundation laid by his predecessor as well as ensuring continuity in all the zonal programmes.

Mr. Ojo assured the Director that there would be proper synergy between NICO SWZ and corporate bodies in the south western states, including media houses, and promised to continue the collaboration with the Ondo State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
