The Head, National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO) South West zone, Mr. Ohi Ojo, has called on stakeholders to appreciate the value of peace as an important tool to achieve national development.

Mr. Ojo, who stated this in a press release to mark the 2012 World Day for Cultural Diversity on May 21, 2012, said “the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development, should be seen as a chance for people to celebrate cultural diversity and harmony. On this day, celebrations are held to create greater awareness of cultural values and the need to preserve them.”

He stressed that, “to the people of the south west of Nigeria cultural values included; Honesty, tolerance, hard work, respect for elders and constituted authorities,” and advised the people of Ondo State to encourage and embrace these cultural values in preparing for the forthcoming Governorship elections in October.

The NICO SW Zonal Head called on all stakeholders to appreciate the value of peace as an important tool to achieve development and also to appreciate the diverse cultural values, which are intended to help achieve sustainable national development.
