altThe need for the Examinations Board of the NICO Training School to meet at most two weeks after the end of any Semester, to avoid having a backlog of results, has been stressed.

The Executive Secretary, Dr. Barclays Foubiri Ayakoroma, who stated this at a meeting of the Board, on Thursday, November 15th, 2012, held in the Conference Room of the Institute’s office, National Theatre Annex, Iganmu-Lagos, to consider and ratify the examination results of students, said all the approved results must be pasted on the Notice Board before the end of the year.

The Examination Board, which had the ES presiding, took far-reaching decisions to address growing anxiety over awaiting result issues experienced by students and sponsor organisations.

Consequently, the Board considered the 2nd Semester 2010/2011 Academic Session and the 1st Semester 2011/2012 Academic Session results, and approved same for further necessary action.

Another important decision taken at the Examination Board meeting was that starting from the 2012/2013 Academic Session, examination questions and answer sheets would be duly moderated in order to maintain set standards, because, as the ES put it, “the time has come for the Training School to pay serious attention to standards in line with the terms of affiliation with Nasarawa State University (NSUK).”

It was also decided that Research topics will be selected for candidates out of the choice of three topics submitted for approval, to check any attempt to plagiarize existing project works.

The Board also recommended penalties for students, who had failed to submit their project works within the stipulated period, especially staff sponsored by the Institute to undertake the one year academic programme in Cultural Administration.

altDr. Ayakoroma also seized the opportunity to announce that matriculation for new intakes had been fixed tentatively for Friday, February 22, 2013, while Convocation Ceremony for all past graduands of the Training School, had been scheduled for Saturday, August 17th, 2013, as part of the 20th Year Anniversary of the Institute.

The Examination Board meeting had in attendance Prince Bamidele Olusa (Director, Training School), Mrs Brigitte Yerima (Director, NICO Lagos office), Mr. Nelson Campbell (Deputy Director and SA to ES), Dr. Dipo Kalejaiye (Head, Academic Unit of Training School), and Mr. Alex Omije (Deputy Director, Protocol). Others were Mr. James Imohiosen (Head, NICO South-South Zonal office), Malam Ismaila Ahmed (NICO North-East Zonal office), Alhaji Bashiru Mohammed (Academic Unit of Training School), and Ms Josephine Salami (Secretary of the Examination Board).
