altThe Executive Secretary, National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO), Dr. Barclays Foubiri Ayakoroma, will be guest in the Living Room of Bush House Nigeria, a radio programme on Kapital FM 92.9, Abuja, today, Wednesday, December 12th, 2012, by 11am.

Dr. Ayakoroma, who is very eloquent on cultural matters, will engage his listeners on the 3rd NICO Annual Public Lecture, with the theme, “Culture, Good Governance and Nigeria’s Democracy,” coming up on Monday, December 17th, 2012, at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.  

The Annual Public Lecture, which is a scholarly platform to examine the uniqueness of culture in national development, will be delivered this year by Professor Shamsudeen O. O. Amali, the Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Nasarawa State, who happens to be the first Professor of Theatre Arts in the Northern Nigeria, in addition to being the first Professor of Theatre Arts to become a Vice Chancellor in Nigeria.

The chairman of the event is another distinguished university scholar, Professor Emeka Nwabueze, the Head of Department of Theatre & Film Studies, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, while the Honourable Minister of Culture, Tourism and National Orientation, Chief Edem Duke, will be the Special Guest of Honour.

The ES will also highlight on the other cultural programmes of the Institute placing it at the high pedestal of cultural education and engagements in Nigeria. Listeners outside Abuja can log on to www.radionigeria.gov.ng for live broadcast of the programme.
