altNigerians have been invited to submit nominations for the Ibsen Scholarship 2013 Award for innovative projects in the field of drama and performing arts.

In a letter titled: “Announcing The Ibsen Scholarship 2013,” sent to the Executive Secretary National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO), Dr. Barclays Foubiri Ayakoroma, the Secretary-General of National Commission for UNESCO (NATCOM-UNESCO), Mrs. M. O. Anene-Maidoh, added that the awards act as incentives for critical discourse on existential and society-related subject matters concerning Henrik Ibsen and his plays.

It requested the ES to disseminate the information to interested candidates in his organization and beyond, explaining that the scholarships are applicable to individuals, organizations or institutions, within artistic and cultural community.

Initiated by the Norwegian Government, the Scholarship funds, which amount to NOK1,000,000 (approx. 135.000 Euro/180.000 US Dollars), will be awarded on projects worldwide and will be handed out for the 6th time in 2013.

The deadline of application for the scholarship is April 30th 2013, and it will be presented at Skien International Ibsen Conference on September 16th and 17th, 201alt3, in Skien, Norway.

The Ibsen Scholarships are awarded annually and applications are subject to scrutiny by an appointed jury; and it has, till now, handed out 19 scholarships to projects in 15 different countries.
