altPa Alimi Amodu, the graduate at 80, who had indicated his intention to register for the Postgraduate Diploma in Cultural Administration programme of NICO Training School, Lagos, has expressed profound gratitude to the Honourable Minister of Culture, Tourism & national Orientation, High Chief Edem Duke, for his magnanimous offer to sponsor him.

Amodu, who stated this at the 1st Convocation Ceremony of NICO Training School, at the Cinema Hall II, National Theatre, Lagos, said the kind gesture of Chief Duke exemplifies the ideal Nigerian brotherly spirit, which shows that there are still people in government, who are kind-hearted and not consumed by the pecks of office.

He also poured encomium on the Executive Secretary of National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO), Dr. Barclays Foubiri Ayakoroma, who had received him warmly in Ibadan and made provision for him to attend the Convocation ceremony, stressing that the ES must pay a courtesy visit on the Olu Ibadan, whenever he visits Ibadan again, to receive “royal blessings” for his future endeavours.

It will be recalled that the Minister’s response was in reaction to a statement in the welcome address of the ES that Pa Amodu had disclosed his desire to register for the Training School’s PGD programme in Cultural Administration, and called on well-meaning Nigerians to sponsor the octogenarian.
