The Director, Research and Documentation of the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Professor Olu Obafemi, who is a member of the new Governing Board of National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO), has expressed optimism that the future of the Institute is assured under the leadership of the new Board Chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Isma’il.

Speaking in an interview with NICO news, shortly after the first board meeting at the Institute’s Kigoma Street, Wuse Zone 7, Abuja headquarters, Obafemi observed that with the business-like approach of the chairman, the passion exhibited during the meeting by members of the board, and most importantly well-structured programmes with adequate funding, the Institute would record meaningful contributions and developments in the nearest future.

In his words: “Well, as an in-house member of the NICO family and a member of the board, I believe that with the business-like approach of the chairman and the passion that each member has shown today is reassuring and we will make positive contribution towards the development and growth of this very vital cultural organ. It gives me the impression that we are on a good path… the ship is headed to a safe landing and with well-structured programmes… there is no doubt that the future of NICO under this present leadership is very safe.”

It would be recalled that the new NICO Governing Board was inaugurated alongside six (6) other sister parastatals in the Ministry by the Honourable Minister of Tourism, Culture and National Orientation, Chief Edem Duke, on Wednesday, 23rd of October, 2013, at Ladi Kwali Hall of Sheraton Hotels and Towers, Abuja.
