As news of the sudden death of the Numupere of Izon, King Robert Ebizimor reverberates, shaking the Ijaw nation and indeed Nigeria, the Executive Secretary of National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO), Dr. Barclays Foubiri Ayakoroma has expressed shock, saying the sad event occurred when friends, relations and fans of the Izon music legend were celebrating his recovery from serious health challenges.

Ayakoroma noted that the demise of King Robert was more painful when considered against the backdrop that he was preparing for a grand thanksgiving on Saturday, 2nd August, 2014 in his home town, Angalabiri in Sagbama LGA of Bayelsa State.

The ES said: “King Robert was more of a father to me. He was also one of the Living Human Treasures of the second volume NICO is currently working on. His demise, after overcoming a life-threatening health condition, is quite painful and an irreparable loss to the entire Ijaw nation. All we can now pray is for God to give the immediate family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.”

King Robert Ebizimor, the Owigiri music legend, who had mentored several young musicians in Ijaw land, including Bestman Doupere, Pereama Freetown, Kente, and Junior Robert, among others, met his untimely death on Thursday, when preparations were in top gear for a grand thanksgiving in his home town, Angalabiri, which has been thrown into mourning.
