IMG 2335The Chairman, Governing Board of the National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO), Alhaji Ibrahim Isma’il was full of gratitude to the Management and staff of the Institute, as he formally took possession of a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado Jeep from the Institute for his official use.

Commending the sense of responsibility of the Management of NICO during the formal presentation of the vehicle to him, Wednesday, 13th August, at the Institute’s Headquarters in Abuja, Alhaji Isma’il stated that he was touched by the kind gesture, adding that it would go a long way in alleviating his transportation needs.

Earlier, presenting the keys and documents of the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado Jeep to the Board Chairman, the Executive Secretary, Dr. Barclays Foubiri Ayakoroma, had said that, ideally, the vehicle would have been presented on the day of the formal inauguration of the Governing Board but for circumstances beyond the control of Management.

According to him: “We remember, during the inauguration ceremony, some Grade A Parastatals presented cars to their Board Chairmen. Unfortunately, we couldn’t do that then; but they say God’s time is the best. Today, on behalf of the Management and staff of NICO, I want to officially present this car to you as the Chairman of the Governing Board;” further commending the chairman for his patience and understanding.

The Es disclosed that his plan was to ensure that vehicles were acquired for the Governing Board Chairman and at least three of the senior directors this year; and then go on to acquire more for other directors and zonal coordinators by next year, as it would go a long way in enhancing their job performance.

Present during the official handover of the vehicle to the Chairman were the Director, Administration and Human Resources, Barr. Abayomi  Oyelola, mni; Director,  Orientation and Cultural Affairs, Mr. Alex Omijie; Head of Corporate Affairs, Hajiya  Fatima Mustapha; and Alhaji  Ndaman of the Admin &Human Resources Department, among others.

It would be recalled that the new NICO Governing Board was inaugurated on the 24th of October, 2013, at the Ladi Kwali Hall, Sheraton Hotel and Towers, Abuja, alongside seven other cultural Parastatals by the Honourable Minister of Culture, Tourism and National Orientation, Chief Edem Duke, on behalf of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.
