The town of Isunjaba in Isu Local Government Area of Imo State played host to thousands of dignitaries from all walks of life, as the remains of late Chief Vincent Dike Osuala (Udo-Oha of Isunjaba) was committed to mother earth on Wednesday, 6th January, 2016.
The requiem mass for the funeral service was held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Isunjaba, and the interment took place at his family compound in Umuokwara Umuebeke Isunjaba.
Born on the 10th of April, 1926 to Mr. and Mrs. Kabiri Osuala of Umuokwara Umuebeke Isunjaba, Isu LGA of Imo State, late Chief Vincent Dike Osuala spent most of his life impacting positively on the lives of others.
A devoted Christian and a graduate of History from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Chief Vincent Dike Osuala is a father of eight great children, among whom is, Dr. (Mrs.) Regina Onuoha, Cordinator, NICO Training School, Abuja Study Centre.
The event was full of fond memories, as Chief Osuala was described as a legend, an erudite scholar, a perfect gentleman, honesty personified, and a man of peace, who was ready to give the other cheek to be slapped by any aggrieved person for peace to reign; though he was a strict disciplinarian, which is evident in the lives of his children.
Late Chief Osuala recorded high profile contributions to the overall development of Isunjaba and neighboring communities that had contacts with him during his career as a renowned teacher and community leader par excellence.
The dignitaries from Imo State and beyond that attended the event include, but not limited to the following: former Minister of Culture & Tourism, Ambassador Frank Ogbuewu; former Managing Director of Fidelity Bank, Mr. Reginald Ihejiahi; former President of Pan African Parliament, Rt. Hon Bethel Amadi; former Secretary to Imo State Government, Barr. Chris Okewulonu; former Speaker of Imo State State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Nnaemeka Maduagwu; Imo State Independent Electoral Commissioner, Rt. Hon. Barr. Amaechi Nwaoha; Deputy Governorship candidate of PDP, Rt. Hon. Chuma Philip Nnaji; and current Honourable Member representing Isu LGA in Imo State House of Assembly, Hon. Ngozi Obiefule.
The turn out of staffers of National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO) was overwhelming, as a team was lead by the Cordinator, NICO South-East Zonal Office, Ms Justina Akhilome, as well as NICO Training School staffers from Abuja and Lagos, respectively.
The highlights of the reception were the performances of various cultural dance groups, notable among them being the Ohafia War Dance, the Nwaekpe Dance, and Nwayobuije Dance, just as guests were entertained by Soro Kay Band and Gospel Singers from Imo State, while Mrs More Eateries Ltd served various local and continental dishes.
