The Executive Secretary of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) Dr. Masau’du Adamu Kazuare has said that the National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO) is no doubt a training institute and that it has the right kind of leadership, “that’s why it is working.”

Dr. Kazaure stated this in his office in Kaduna, while receiving a NICO delegation, led by the Institute’s Executive Secretary, Assoc. Prof. Barclays Foubiri Ayakoroma, on a courtesy visit.  

He thanked the ES-NICO for visit and assured him of quick response to the request for categorisation of the NICO Training School programmes, because, according to him, “the work of NBTE is to take care of anything technical and vocational education falling outside the University.”

Earlier in his brief, the Executive Secretary of NICO, Assoc. Prof. Barclays Foubiri Ayakoroma said that he was at NBTE to intimate the Executive Secretary of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) on the role of NICO in training and capacity building in the culture sector and to explore possible areas of corporation.

nbte1Through a PowerPoint presentation, Prof. Ayakoroma intimated the ES NBTE and his Management team on some of NICO’s programmes, which included, among others, the one-month intensive Nigerian Indigenous Language Programme (NILP); Promoting Nigerian Dress Culture; NICO Cultural Clubs in Secondary Schools; Repositioning Workshop of Culture Workers; Annual National Conference for Traditional Rulers on Culture, Peace and Security; and the NICO Training School in Lagos and Abuja, nbte2which runs Diploma, Advanced Diploma, and Postgraduate Diploma in Cultural Administration.

Highlight of the visit was the presentation of some NICO publications to NBTE Executive Secretary, Dr. M.A. Kazaure, who was with some of his Directors, namely, O.T. Ibrahim, E.E. Ekpeyong, Sayyid Haruna, Arc. Thomas Adekunle, Engr. ADK Mohammed, Engr. U.J. Danjuma and Sheriff Sanda.

On the other hand, the NICO ES was accompanied by Mr. Law Ikay Ezeh Jr. (SA to ES), Fati Jafaru (CSO), and Ibrahim Sule Malgwi (Head of Protocol).
