The Executive Secretary/CEO, National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO), and Associate Professor at Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), Barclays Foubiri Ayakoroma, has advised parents and guardians to be patient and prayerful in training up their children so that all the efforts they put in will not be wasted.

Ayakoroma stated this in an interview with NICO News shortly after the wedding reception of his daughter, Douye and her husband, Peter Aruegbe, at Exhibition Hall II of National Theatre, Iganmu-Lagos, on the 4th of June, 2016, adding that parents also need prayers for their children, especially their female children, to meet the right persons for marriage.

His words: ”Training up a child requires love and patience because if you are not patient, your child can misbehave and you can say: it’s all over; no more. So, you need patience; you have to endure and, of course, be prayerful; you can have all the money in the world. If you want to train your child and she is not ready to put her head down to learn, then all your efforts will be wasted. And at the same time, you need prayers.”

According to him, ”there are many young men who are jumping from one lady to the other; so, parents need prayers for their daughters to meet the right persons who will not take them for a ride and will be serious and committed to them”.

Continuing, Prof. Ayakoroma advised young boys and girls, who old enough for marriage to think of the future because time does not wait for any person; and he also encouraged young men not to put money first because money is not the utmost priority for one to get married.

For the ladies, he advised that they should not think of a ‘ready-made’ husband, who has cars, houses and fat bank accounts before accepting to marry such a young man, because that kind of person may not readily come their way; rather, they should think of persons they could build their homes together.

Concluding, the NICO ES prayed for God’s abundant blessings: good children, good money, good life for his daughter as she was starting a family life, adding that he wished the young couple every good thing they wished for themselves, so that God alone will receive all the glory.

It will be recalled that the traditional marriage of Douye Pamela Ayakoroma, a holder of a Masters degree in International Economics and Peter Efe Aruegbe, a Quantity Surveyor, was held on Saturday, 26th March, 2016, at Ayuba Waba House, Bayelsa Palm Road, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, a day that coincided with Douye’s birthday.
