All is set for Professor Saint Gbilekaa, a renowned radical theatre scholar, critic and teacher at the Department of Theatre Arts, University of Abuja, and Chief of Staff to the immediate past Executive Governor of Benue State, Rt. Hon. Gabriel Suswam, to deliver his inaugural lecture.
The event, which will take place at the Faculty of Management Science Lecture Theatre, University of Abuja Main Campus, Airport Road, Abuja-FCT, on Thursday, 23rd June, 2016 by 2:00 pm, promises to attract Nigerians from all walks of life, especially academics and students.
As usual, an Inaugural Lecture being an exercise where a scholar justifies his professorial chair, through an intellectual and scholarly discourse; and the 20th edition of the University of Abuja will see Prof. Gbilekaa, speak on the topic, entitled, “Theatre and Politics: The Critic and Social Consciousness in African Drama”.
It will be recalled that, Professor Saint Gbilekaa is a former Head, Department of Theatre Arts, former Dean of Arts, and former Dean of Postgraduate Studies of University of Abuja, in addition to being a former National President of the Society of Nigeria Theatre Artists (SONTA), the umbrella body of all the theatre arts lecturers in Nigerian Universities and tertiary institutions.
