Final Year Students from the Department of Theatre and Cultural Studies, Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), are set to do their presentations in Production Workshop, a course taught by the Executive Secretary/CEO, National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO), Dr. Barclays Foubiri Ayakoroma, who is a Visiting Associate Professor to the Department.

According to a letter signed by the Acting Head of Department, Lantana Ahmed, dated 10th October, 2016 and addressed to the ES of NICO, entitled, “Production Workshop”, the workshop will hold from Wednesday, 12th to Thursday, 13th October, 2016, at the Arts Theatre Complex at the University Campus.

In order to ascertain the level of preparedness by the students, Ayakoroma had on Tuesday, 11th October, 2016, organized a preview of the different plays by the students ahead of the main presentations, which are expected to have the department’s External Examiner, Professor Tor Iorapuu, from the University of Jos, Plateau State, in attendance.

Addressing students before the kick-off of the preview at the Theatre and Cultural Studies Complex, Ayakoroma stressed that he deemed it fit to do the previews a day ahead to know if the students were really prepared for the production before the External Examiner.

His words: “Ideally, you know that these presentations should be taking place tomorrow; but we are all here to see how we can make it easy for you. If you have been serious with your rehearsals, it will show because we are going to preview the presentations under performance conditions”.

In all, the students have been grouped into three (3) for the production workshop; the first group performs Sweet Revenge by Irene Isoken Salami, the second group would perform Morontondun by Femi Osofisan, and the third group will present Sam Ukala’s Iredi War.

Lecturers present at the preview were the Acting Head of Department, Hajia Lantana Ahmed, Professor Emmanuel Dandaura, Dr. Damisa Suru, Mr. Chikada Daniel and Ms Agatha Nwanya.

Meanwhile, NICO staffers that accompanied the Executive Secretary to the Preview were Mr. Nwagbo Patrick Obi (Senior Cultural Officer), Mr. Caleb Nor (Media Assistant-ES) and Mr. Ese Okeh (Senior Driver).
