The Acting Vice Chancellor, Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), Professor Suleiman Bala Mohammed has assured the Management of the National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO), that the University will continue to give maximum support and cooperation towards cementing the affiliation of the Institute’s training programmes.

Prof. Suleiman Mohammed gave this assurance on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 when the Acting Executive Secretary of NICO, Mr. Louis Eriomala paid him a courtesy visit to further cement the Memorandum of Understanding with the University as well as address gray areas in order to formalize the affiliation.

Recall that the Senate of the University had on August 17, 2017, approved the Institute’s request to affiliate its Training School programmes for the award of national and internationally recognized certificates of Diploma and Postgraduate Diploma in Cultural Administration.

To express his commitment, the Acting VC directed the Dean of Postgraduate School, Prof. O. Akinwumi and his team to double their efforts towards addressing the gray areas in the affiliation process with NICO and ensure the MOU is cemented and moved to the next level. According to him, this will mark the beginning of a very cordial relationship between NSUK & NICO that will grow from strength to strength.

While commending the Acting ES of NICO for his concern, commitment and enthusiasm towards cementing the affiliation process, Prof. Suleiman stressed that his concern is an indication that he is indeed interested in moving the Institute to greater heights in the actualization of its mandate.

In his words “With your concern towards ensuring that we have this affiliation concluded, I am convinced that you have the interest of NICO at heart and with that kind of interest, I am very sure that the sky will be you limit. I want to assure you that on our part, we will give you our full support and cooperation.”

He had earlier congratulated the NICO Boss on his appointment and prayed that the Almighty God will not only make him to succeed but also make his appointment substantive.

In a brief remark, the Acting ES of NICO, Mr. Louis Eriomala who congratulated the Acting VC on his appointment also described him as a humble man, saying he was delighted to meet such a rare personality.

In his words “I am delighted to meet you today. We are here to cement our MOU with the University and know the things that are left to be done and with what I have seen here, I can say that your type is not common in this country. We live in a country where people struggle for positions but I have seen in you, a man that I will love to emulate; a man who is humble. One lesson I have learnt from you is that people should be patient in life and not be in a hurry because when the time comes, God will surely elevate you.”

Before the meeting, the NICO delegation joined the other principal officers, students and personal staff attached to the office of the Vice Chancellor to mark his birthday where they prayed for him and asked God Almighty to grant him many more years of abundant peace.

In his response, the Vice Chancellor who expressed deep appreciation to everyone for making the birthday celebration a huge success said it came to him as a surprise as he was not expecting it as he has never celebrated his birthday before. He particularly acknowledged the principal staff of the University for their support since he assumed duty and gave them the assurance that he will continue to sustain the confidence they repose in him.
