NIMCOS Executives Pay Courtesy Visit On NICO Acting ES

The Executive members of the National Institute for Cultural Orientation Multi-purpose Cooperative Society (NIMCOS) paid a courtesy visit on the Acting Executive Secretary of the Institute, Mr. Louis Eriomala with the assurance of a harmonious work relationship with Management.

Speaking during the visit which took place on Tuesday, December 19, 2017, at Institute's head office in Abuja, the Chairman of the Cooperative Society, Mr. Ibrahim Kantoma disclosed that the Executives of the Cooperative deemed it fit to officially visit the Acting ES to congratulate him on his appointment and reiterate their readiness to work with management whenever the need arises.

In his words “We the Executive of the cooperative society have decided to come today to pay you a visit and to officially congratulate you on your appointment as the Acting Executive Secretary of NICO. We are also here to assure you of our full cooperation and possible assistance when the need arises”.

Responding, the Acting ES, Mr. Eriomala, thanked the NIMCOS Executive for finding time to come to visit him, saying he considers it as a great honour to him. According to him, God has brought him closer to members of staff as the helmsman in NICO. He said, he believes it is for good.

Cooperative is something that is very good and we all need. I didn't join all along because of some personal reasons but now that I have come, I will join beginning from January, 2018”, he told the Cooperative members.

I pray we all succeed and I know what you want is support. If there are things you want clarifications, please feel free to come because am somebody that does not believe in protocols. I think life should be made simple and that is why I don't believe in building a wall around myself”.

“I am willing to abide myself with the rules and regulations because here, I am a member where I can only suggest but the overriding agreement comes from you, the EXCO because the ES does not have more than one vote”.

Responding to a request for approval of funds for NIMCOS Executives to travel to NICO State and Zonal offices across the country, to keep member of staff in the various locations abreast of current happenings in the cooperative, Eriomala maintained that management cannot sponsor such trips, stressing that the cooperative is self-regulatory and not part of the constitution of the institute.

In his words: “If you want to travel, we can allow you to travel but we cannot sponsor your trips because the cooperative is independent, self regulatory and makes profit. It is self regulatory and self financing and the only thing we can do is to approve your travelling”.

Eriomala said although his priority remains staff welfare, management is limited by paucity of funds, saying what the Institute gets at the moment is about 1/3 of what it used to get in the past.

Other executive members present during the courtesy visit were: Mrs. Loretta Enwezor, Vice Chairman; Mrs. Finelady Mushinwa, Auditor; Mrs. Adelabu Idris Iyaduni, Welfare/PRO; Mrs. Salamatu Yahaya Bello, Financial Secretary and Thomas Omopariola, General Secretary.
