The Abuja Carnival Management Committee says ten countries will be participating in this year’s Carnival, which will hold from the 24th – 27th November, 2012, in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.
This formed part of the presentation by the Abuja Carnival Working Committee at the recently concluded 8th National Council on Tourism, Culture and National Orientation meeting, by the Director, Culture in the Ministry, Mr. George Nkanta Ufot, representing the Honourable Minister, Chief Edem Duke, who is the Chairman of the Abuja Carnival Committee.
Mr. Ufot, who did the memo presentation, in company with Professor Ojo Rasaki Bakare, the Artistic Director of the Carnival, said the annual event was conceived by the Federal Ministry of Tourism, Culture and National Orientation, to showcase the rich tourism and cultural potentials in Nigeria to the world, and that it has also become a rallying point for artists all over the world.
The theme for Abuja Carnival 2012, as approved by the Council is, “Carnival of Peace and Harmony,” to reflect the nation’s current security challenges and the need to ensure peace and harmony among its people as a recipe for national transformation.
