The National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO), Gombe State Office, in furtherance of its efforts to establish a cordial working relationship with key stakeholders in Gombe State, on 7th May, 2013, paid a courtesy call on the Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Information and Orientation, Gombe State, Rev. Habu Dawaki.
The State Co-ordinator, Mr. Yahaya Mohammed Sanda, who led staffers of NICO, Gombe State Office, to the Commissioner’s office, expressed gratitude to Rev. Dawaki, for the support and co-operation his ministry had been giving NICO and for being the first Commissioner to have approved a courtesy call by NICO, Gombe State Office.
He briefed the Commissioner on the aims and objectives of the Institute and its programmes, like the Nigerian Indigenous Language Programme (NILP), National Media Workshop for Arts Writers & Editors, and National Workshop on Repositioning Cultural Workers for Improved Productivity, among others.
Responding, the Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Information and Orientation, Rev. Habu Dawaki, expressed his delight with NICO, Gombe State Office, for the courtesy call, recalling how he was given the opportunity to present a paper, when the media workshop of the Institute was held in Gombe, in February 2012.
He therefore expressed his readiness to collaborate with NICO, Gombe State Office, to revitalize our cultural values, assuring officers in the State Office they are free to contact him whenever they need any assistance from him.
The State Co-ordinator, Mr. Yahaya Mohammed Sanda, later presented some publications of NICO to the Honourable Commissioner, and the occasion had in attendance, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Orientation, Alhaji Usman Sambo Abubakar, the Director of Information of the Ministry, Alhaji Saidu Baba Gadam, the Director of Ethics & Orientation, Mr. Joshua Gaude, and the Director of Personnel Management, Mallam Bello Zannuwa.
