The newly appointed Director of NICO Training School, Mrs. Brigitte Yerima, has said that the present leadership of NICO, under Dr. Barclays Foubiri Ayakoroma, has the vision of mainstreaming the Training School, and that it was the responsibility of staffers to leverage on that and look into ways of improving standards and the relevance of the school in the Nigerian culture sector.
Mrs. Yerima, who stated this in an inaugural meeting with management and staff of the Training School, on Tuesday, May 14th, 2013, reiterated her resolve to actualize NICO’s vision and objectives during her tenure, noting that students’ enrolment into the Diploma and Postgraduate Diploma programmes in Cultural Administration had improved significantly.
The Director said she will also focus on capacity building of cultural workers for improved productivity through short-duration courses, noting that it requires teamwork to produce the right results, and enjoined all staff to expect some redeployment that will strategically enhance their productivity.
Mrs. Yerima was, until April 2013, Director/Head, NICO Liaison Office in Lagos, and the pioneer Coordinator of the Training School, when it was kick-started in 2009, as part of the Lagos Office; thus, her redeployment as DTS brings her to a familiar terrain.
We join the management and entire staff of NICO in wishing her an excellent tenure as the Director of NICO Training School.
