In the bid to further promote the culture potentials, stakeholders will be congregating in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, from 30th October to 2nd November, 2013, for the maiden edition of the South-South Cultural Festival and Exhibition, “Uyo 2013,” with the theme, “Promoting Culture and Tourism as a Unifying Factor for Socio-Economic Development in Nigeria.”
The festival is powered by Hogi Home of Gold International in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Tourism, Culture and National Orientation and the Akwa Ibom State Government through its Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
Activities lined up for the event include, South-South Fashion Show, Boat Regatta, South-South Model Award of the Year, Cultural Dance Competition, Classical Leadership Award, and son on; and participants will be drawn from all the states of the South-South geopolitical zone of the country.
The city of Uyo is presently agog with preparations for this epoch-making event, the first of its kind organized by the states in the South-South region; and it is expected to hold annually in the zone but to be hosted by any state chosen by the stakeholders/Chief Executives of Culture and Tourism in the South-South states.
