As activities of the 20014/15 academic session of the NICO Training School, Abuja Study Centre come to a close, students of the Post Graduate Diploma in Cultural Administration (PGDCA), on Monday, 16th and Tuesday, 17th November, 2015, embarked on the mandatory Field School programme to culture-related organizations, as part of their course requirement for the award of Post Graduate Diploma in Cultural Administration (PGDCA).

On Monday, November 16th, students visited Arts and Crafts Village, opposite Sheraton Hotel, Abuja, where they were received by the Provost of African Arts & Cultural Association (AACHA), Mr. Habib Abubakar.

Mr. Abubakar took the students round the facilities at the Village cutting across three different sections: painting, textiles and general crafts; the general crafts are further divided into carvings, beads and bronze; and he explained to them that all the craft works are produced elsewhere while they only do the finishing.

At the Nike Art Gallery, Piwoyi Village, Mr. Eniolorunde O. Peters, who was on ground to receive the students, took them round on a guided tour, introducing them to the production of tie-and-dye (adire) in the workshop.

On Tuesday, November 17th, some of the students visited the Chinese Cultural Centre (under the Chinese Ministry of Culture), located at Plot, 524, Dalaba Street, Behind Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) Headquarters, Zone 5, Abuja, Federal Capital Territory.

At the Centre, by the Administrative & Communication Officer of the Centre, Mr. Jide Joseph, received the students and later them introduced them to the Chinese Cultural Attaché, Mr. Yan Xangdong, who disclosed that the Centre was established to bridge the gap between the governments of China and Nigeria in cultural, political, social, economic and scientific matters, among other areas, to create a synergy between the two countries for peaceful co-existence, and therefore urged the students to be good ambassadors of the country.

The students were taken to different sections of the Centre with different instructors on how the Centre operates, climaxing with fifteen minutes learning of Chinese language.

The last place the students will visit is the Korea Cultural Centre, and it is scheduled for Tuesday, 24th November, 2015.
