The Coordinator of Abuja Study Centre of the National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO) Training School, Dr. (Mrs.) Regina Onuoha has said that NICO has created favourable conditions for students to succeed and make the best out of their training school experience during the academic session.

Onuoha, who stated this while addressing new students during the Orientation Ceremony of the 2015/ 2016 academic session, held at the Institute’s Headquarters, No. 23 Kigoma Street, Wuse Zone 7, Abuja on Thursday, 10th February, 2016, stressed that in line with NICO’s mandate, the Institute has created platforms for students to acquire knowledge in Cultural Administration and apply such in their various offices and everyday life.

onu1Highlighting the different programmes of the Training School, the Coordinator intimated that the Institute has introduced Advanced Diploma in Cultural Administration (ACDA) programme for NCE holders and its equivalent, in addition to the Ordinary Diploma in Cultural Administration (DCA) programme which would take care of Junior Staff in the Civil Service with WASC, NECO and GCE; whereas, the Post Graduate Diploma in Cultural Administration (PGDCA) programme is for degree and HND holders in various disciplines.

She further admonished the students with Oscar Wilde’s quote that, ”Success is a science, if you have the conditions, you get the results;” adding that there must be commitment and hard work on the part of the students for them to succeed in the programme.

Also speaking, NICCO’s Acting Director of Administration and Human Resources, Alhaji Ibrahim Husseini, urged the students to abide by the rules and ethics of the Training School, saying punctuality, commitment and hard work are paramount, which, for him, are similar to the rules and regulations obtainable in Public Service Rules (PSR).

As at the time of filing this report, twenty two(22) students had registered for the Post Graduate Diploma programme for the 2015/2016 academic session, out of which seven (7) are external students from the sister parastatals of the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture.
