Assistant Director/Co-ordinator, Abuja Study Centre of National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO) Training School, Mrs. Regina Onuoha has bagged a doctorate degree in Educational Management from the Imo State University (IMSU), Owerri.
She was conferred with the award in Owerri on Saturday, 19th March, 2016 during the 7th Convocation Ceremony of the University with Professor Pat Utomi delivering a lecture, entitled, “Strategic Financial Management in the Education Sector: A Panacea for a Balanced Tertiary Education in Nigeria.”
Commending Dr. (Mrs.) Onuoha on her academic achievement, the Vice Chancellor, Tansian University, Oba, Anambra State, Professor Chima Boniface Iwuchukwu, who was her Project Supervisor, said she has not only brought honour to womanhood but also made significant contribution to knowledge.
“Dr. (Mrs.) Gina Onuoha’s academic attainment is a commendable achievement which is a positive challenge to other women. She has indeed made significant contribution to knowledge.”
He also urged people to always imbibe the spirit of hard work and refuse defeat or challenges, just as Dr. Regina Onuoha refused to be deterred in spite of daunting challenges she faced during her period of study, saying she was indeed hard working.
Similarly speaking, the Priest-in-Charge of St. Anna’s Catholic Church, Ebenator-Ekure, Isu Local Government Area of Imo State, Rev. Fr. Theophilus Nwadike, during a special thanksgiving service organised in honour of Dr. (Mrs.) Onuoha, commended her for her perseverance towards achieving the great feat.
While calling on women in the community to emulate her, Fr. Nwadike maintained that her achievement is enough to inspire and encourage others to also strive for excellence, stressing that one’s dreams and aspirations can be achieved through God’s guidance, personal efforts, dedication and commitment to what you set out to achieve.
Responding, Dr. Onuoha expressed profound gratitude to God for the successful completion of her PhD programme, saying her academic achievement is the perfect will of God though it took her a lot of sacrifice to realize her dream.
She recalled the numerous challenges she encountered during her period of study, using the opportunity to encourage other women especially her colleagues to emulate her academic feat.
