Ahead of the 29th edition of the Annual National Festival for Arts and Culture (NAFEST), Chief Executives of Culture (CEC) of the Federation are meeting in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State Capital, beginning from Tuesday, 23rd Friday, 26th August, 2016 to assess the State’s readiness to host the festival this year.

In a letter of invitation addressed to the Executive Secretary, National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO), Dr. Barclays Foubiri Ayakoroma, signed by the Director-General of the National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC), Mrs. Dayo Keshi, the meeting, which is the second phase of the bi-annual meeting of the CEC will, apart from evaluating Akwa Ibom’s readiness to host the festival, also inspect facilities listed for use at “The Land of Promise”.

The Chief Executives of Culture will also use the opportunity to pay a courtesy call on the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency, Emmanuel Udom to intimate him on the economic and social benefits of hosting the festival, as well as perfect strategies and instruments for administering the rich and diverse culture of Nigeria.

Recall that the Government and People of Akwa Ibom State will be hosting the 29th edition of NAFEST, scheduled to hold 2nd-9th October, 2016, in Uyo, the State Capital.
