The National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO), a Parastatal of the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture, is set to organize her Quarterly Public Lecture Series with the theme: “Promoting Culture, Developing the Economy: A Nigerian Perspective”.

A press release signed by Caleb Nor, on behalf of the Executive Secretary of NICO, Assoc. Prof. Barclays Foubiri Ayakoroma, says the Public Lecture, which is scheduled for Thursday, 2nd March, 2017 by 10am at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja-FCT, is expected to be delivered by His Excellency, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, the Executive Governor of Imo State.

The release further states that the Chairman, Senate Committee on Culture and Tourism, Senator Mathew Urhoghide will be the Chairman, the Honourable Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed will serve as Special Guest of Honour, while the Waziri of Katsina, Prof. Sani Abubakar Lugga, will be the Royal Father of the Day.

It will be recalled that in 2015, Management of NICO. under the leadership of Prof. Barclays Ayakoroma, mooted the idea of restructuring the Institute’s Public Lecture Series, where paper presenters will henceforth be prominent personalities outside the academia to include politicians, captains of industry and heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies both at the Federal, State and Local Government levels.

It is also worthy of note that the idea of restructuring the NICO Quarterly Public Lecture was to afurther give the Institute greater visibility that will encourage patronage of its programmes and activities, especially the Training School.
