The Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN) has said it is willing to work together with management towards achieving a peaceful and harmonious working environment in the Institute. The Association made their position known on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 when the Secretary Assigned, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Secretariat, Comrade Isaac Ojemike led a delegation of officials on a courtesy visit to the Acting Executive Secretary of NICO, Mr. Louis Eriomala. According to Comrade Isaac Ojemike, ASCSN’s resolve to work with management is informed by the need to secure the survival of the workplace through synergy with those in position of authority. In his words “We believe in due process; we believe in synergy with those in authority; we believe in the survival of the work place first; we believe in good harmonious work environment. Why we have such strong believe is because if the work place is in disarray, the workers will not enjoy their work. If there is no work place, we won’t have members there. So we must synergize with the management to ensure that things are working fine and the workers are happy”. He therefore solicited that management should look into the issues of staff promotion and welfare, saying they will not hesitate to partner them since the best gift any worker can get is to be promoted. In his response, the Acting Executive Secretary of NICO, Mr. Louis Eriomala who thanked them for the visit, said management is working assiduously towards finding a solution to the issues surrounding staff promotion. On the issue of staff welfare package for the end of year, the NICO Boss informed the union that a committee has been set up to come up with a plan within available resources to ensure staff receive their welfare package. He therefore advised union leaders to continuously work in harmony with management and respect their Bosses at the work place, saying we have lost our values in the society and even in the work place. “The truth is that our values are not right. Unionism is not coming to insult your management. When I see union come to management and talk to them like children, it amazes me. You can make your point by bringing facts and not to insult your Boss”. Caleb Nor Media Asst. to Ag. ES NICO HQ Abuja-FCT
