NICO Academic Board Approves First Semester Exams

The Academic Board of NICO Training School, Abuja Study Centre has approved the first semester results for the 2014/2015 academic session during a meeting held on Friday, 18th December, 2015, at the Institute’s head office in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

The approval was sequel to the request of the Coordinator, Abuja Study Centre of NICO Training School, Dr. (Mrs.) Regina Onuoha, who presented the first semester exams report, saying the Abuja Study Centre was designed to undertake programmes leading to the award of Diploma in Cultural Administration (DCA) and Post Graduate Diploma in Cultural Administration (PGDCA) for the 2014/2015 session but that the DCA Programme was put on hold for the next academic session.

The Coordinator reiterated the fact that accomplished university lecturers mostly from the University of Abuja and Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK) were engaged to take students in ten (10) courses as provided in the curriculum of the Institute, while they were assisted by academic staff in the Institute.

In all, 27 students were admitted into the Post Graduate Diploma in Cultural Administration (PGDCA) but three of the students dropped out, leaving 24 students; while 23 of the students sat for the first semester exams.

Making further clarifications concerning the exams and students’ attitude to the programme, the Executive Secretary, National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO), Dr. Barclays Foubiri Ayakoroma said those who could not finish their 2014/2015 academic session due to their projects will be allowed to sit for their promotion exams next year, but on the condition that they will register for the programme afresh.

According to the ES, the idea of allowing them to write the promotion exam so that they do not miss their seniority was that their failure to meet the deadline for the submission of the projects was partially an administrative oversight and not totally their own fault.
