Biodun Jeyifo, BJ @ 70 Takes Place January 5

The renowned Harvard professor, literary critic, Marxist scholar and newspaper columnist, Professor Biodun Jeyifo, (popularly known as “BJ”), will turn 70 next Tuesday, the 5th of January, 2016.

A statement by the organisers, Professors Yemi Ogunbiyi and Femi Osofisan disclosed that, a public lecture is being organized to mark the day, at the historic Arts Theatre, Department of Theatre Arts, University of Ibadan, starting at 11am.

The event will be under the chairmanship of the legendary Professor J.P. Clark-Bekederemo, with Nobel laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka and cultural icon, Dr. Lekan Are, as Special Guests of Honour, while another renown literary scholar, Professor Dan Izevbaye, will be delivering a paper on the topic, “The Critic’s Calling."

The organisers further enjoined all theatre and literary scholars to turn up in droves to honour this illustrious son of Africa, cherished colleague, friend and mentor.
