Daughter Of ES NICO, Douye And Peter Exchange Marital Vows

It was celebration galore as Douye, first daughter of Dr. Barclays Foubiri Ayakoroma, Executive Secretary/CEO, National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO) and Associate Professor at Nasarawa State University, Keffi, was joined in holy matrimony with her heartthrob, Peter, son of Elder Michael Ifeanyi Aruegbe from Agbor, Delta State, Nigeria.

The union of Douye and Peter on Saturday, 4th of June, 2016 was joyfully celebrated by their families, friends and well-wishers, as the couple signed the dotted lines at the Ikoyi Registry, Ikoyi, Lagos State, Nigeria.

During the memorable occasion, the couple made the mandatory vows to one another under Oath, as it is required by the Common Laws of Nigeria, to be joined in matrimony and to abide by each other, “till death do us part”.

t Douye and Peter are no longer ‘two’ but ‘one’; and this vow, which was immediately followed by soulful kisses by the Bride and Groom, was then sealed in the Register of Marriages in Nigeria and officially witnessed by the fathers of the happy couple.

In Nigeria, as in most part of Africa, the marriage of Douye and Peter is a cause for celebration, as songs of joy filled the air right in the Registry: “This is a Day of Joy” chorused the crowd that had come from Nigeria’s capital city, Abuja, Lagos, Bayelsa, Delta, and other states in Nigeria to be part of the epoch-making event.

The celebrations continued as a grand reception followed immediately at the Exhibition Hall II of the National Arts Theatre, Iganmu-Lagos, under the chairmanship of His Excellency Chief Acho Nwakanma, former Deputy Governor of Abia State.

Amidst light and then heavy refreshments of food and drinks in the well-decorated Exhibition Hall II of the National Arts Theatre, guests present were thrilled by young stand-up comedian, Gift Zibima (GeeBonz), Otunba Tunji Sotimirin (Senior Lecturer, Department of Creative Arts, University of Lagos), and the Lagos-based Dugumbas Cultural Troupe.
