It was a time of honour for Hon. Nelson Ebi Campbell, the Special Assistant to the Executive Secretary of National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO), when on Saturday, 2nd of March, 2013, he was presented with the “Keme-ebidouowei of Izon Ebe” award by the Empowered Youths of Bayelsa State, in Angalabiri Town, Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
Speaking at the event, the chairman of the occasion, the Special Adviser to the Executive Governor of Bayelsa State on Legal Matters, Barr. Stanley Damabide, said that Governor Seriake Dickson was delighted in the person of Hon. Campbell, describing him as a man of great wisdom, a man with a wealth of experience, a man whose door of assistance is always open to anybody irrespective of tribe or age, and an astute politician that had all it takes to promote the image and essence of his people.
Presenting the award, the former Director-General, Bayelsa State Bureau for Arts and Culture, Dr. Famous Eseduwo, described Hon. Campbell as a man of honour, integrity, compassion and an illustrious son of the Izon nation, just as he described the Executive Secretary of NICO, Dr. Barclays Ayakoroma, as a man of vision and good heart, filled with love for progress and humanity.
In his vote of thanks, Hon. Campbell expressed his profound gratitude and appreciation for such respect and recognition given to him, and charged the youths to be committed to hard work and always show love for one another so as to have good success in life.
The occasion was a bee-hive of people drawn from all works of life particularly from the academia and the political class, including the Amananaowei of Toru-Angiama community, His Highness Kings Adueze, who was the father of the day; Special Assistant to the Executive Governor of Bayelsa State (Administration), Mr. Austin Owoso; the Chairman, Angalabiri Community Development Union, Mr. Alegi Ebiotu; as well as staff of NICO Headquarters, Abuja, South-South and South-East zones.
The event was made colourful with cultural display and dance drama presented by Ofoni community women dance group and the popular Able Ladies Dance Group of Angalabiri community.
