In fulfilment of a major plank of his campaign manifesto to come out with Plan of Action for the next two years, the Chairman of the Bayelsa State chapter of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA), Engr. Emmanuel Frank-Opigo, has come out with a line-up of activities for the last quarter of the year 2013 up to the ending of year 2015.
Making the presentation on Saturday, 28th September 2013, at the chapter’s Monthly Reading Session, hosted by Chief Benson Oweizala at the Old Commissioners Quarters, Opolo-Yenagoa, Frank-Opigo said the plan of action was a roadmap to make the chapter vibrant once again, adding that he had also lined up prospective hosts for the Monthly Reading Sessions.
According to the calendar of events, come 5th October, 2013, there will be an Executive Committee Meeting at the State Secretariat of the Association, along Ebis Hotel Road, Biogbolo-Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State Capital; while the General Meeting and Monthly Reading Session will take place on 12th and 19th October, 2013, respectively.
For the month of November, 2013, the Association will hold its Executive Committee Meeting on 2nd November, 2013, at the Secretariat, as a prelude to the ANA National Convention, billed to take place from 7th to 11th November, 2013, at Akure, the Ondo State capital; while the Monthly Reading Session will hold on 23rd November, 2013.
The September Monthly Reading Session, among other things, featured Literary Quiz anchored by Emmanuel Frank-Opigo, readings from works by Chief Christian Otobotekere, Dr. Helen Frank-Opigo, Okutuate Benson-Ayah, and Ogbowei Ebinyo, among others; while the Executive Secretary of National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO), Dr. Barclays Foubiri Ayakoroma, delivered a talk on, “Comic Relief as a Dramatic Tool.”
