A week-long broadcast of an edition of “Talk Your Own – Make Naija Better,” a programme initiated by BBC Media Action is currently running on one hundred and twenty (120) radio stations across the various states of the federation.
The broadcast, which kicked off on Friday, May 17, 2014, features the Executive Secretary of the National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO), Dr. Barclays Foubiri Ayakoroma, with a discourse on the dying state of Nigerian indigenous languages.
A product of an exclusive interview conducted in the Office of the ES on February 19, 2014, by Chibuike Utaka of BBC Media Action, the broadcast is on the fear that over forty indigenous languages spoken in Nigeria will soon go into extinction and had the NICO Boss calling on government to take proactive measures towards ensuring that the right things are done to give our indigenous languages a pride of place in the scheme of things.
According to an email sent to the ES by Jude Utaka on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 on the subject: “Broadcast of Talk Your Own-Make Naija Better,” the programme will run across the six geo-political zones of the federation.
