In a bid to enhance the relationship between the National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO) and the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Mr. Ibrahim Malgwi, the head of NICO in the state, led a team from the Jos office on a courtesy visit to the State Commandant, Mr. Alexander Bissa Barunde.
Mr. Malgwi expressed gratitude for the amicable relationship between the two agencies, especially their joint participation in the recently concluded Nigeria Indigenous Languages Programme (NILP). He praised the officers and men of the NSCDC command for their exemplary performance and punctuality during the NILP, crediting the commandant’s leadership for their professionalism and dedication.
He called for increased collaboration to benefit both agencies.
In response, Mr. Alexander Bissa Barunde, the State Commandant of the NSCDC, welcomed the visit and commended NICO for its efforts in preserving indigenous languages in Nigeria. He also lauded NICO for providing a platform for NSCDC personnel to learn other Nigerian languages through NILP. He emphasized the importance of ongoing collaboration, especially in light of the nation’s current security challenges.
He believed that the knowledge gained from NICO’s programs would significantly improve intelligence gathering in their communities and pledged full support for NICO’s future endeavors.
