The Executive Secretary and CEO of the National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO), Mallam Ado Mohammed Yahuza has reaffirmed the cruciality of cultural clubs in secondary schools as a way of fostering a sense of cultural awareness and identity among children and youths.
He made the assertion in Jos on Friday 13th October 2023 during an interactive meeting he had with staff members of NICO in the state. Mallam Yahuza recalled that the decision to establish cultural clubs in secondary schools was conceptualized to lay a cultural foundation and stimulate culture consciousness among children in schools. He added that the initiative of the club was also designed to enlighten the younger generation on Nigerian indigenous cultures and to stir up appreciation for Nigerian cultural heritage in them.
According to the ES, the activities of the club are geared towards inculcating moral and cultural values of patriotism, hardwork, honesty, respect for constituted authority elders and one another’s culture. The move he said will encourage the appreciation of our indigenous Languages, dresses cuisines music and so on.
Delighted over the performance of Jos Office particularly on courtesy visits to His Majesty, the Gbon Gwom Jos and to various agencies to establish relations, he charged them to replicate such visits to secondary schools so as to quickly establish cultural clubs across the state.
He however assured the Jos office team of his support and corporation in achieving NICO’s mandate.
Welcoming the ES earlier, the state head, Mr Ibrahim Malgwi expressed appreciation to to the CEO for taking out time to visit the newly established state office and to also listen and lend words of encouragement to staff. He said having worked closely with him, he can attest to the strong work ethic and dedication which has earned him well deserved recognition.
He then pledged his commitment and that of his team to work in moving NICO forward
