The Zonal Director, NICO South-South Zonal Office, Mr. Nelson Ebi Campbell has charged staffers of the Institute to be serious with their work, noting that those who decide not to take their jobs seriously are invariably telling the Management not to take them seriously as well.

Campbell, who gave the charge at the NICO Zonal Office complex located at No. 51 Imgbi Road, Amarata, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, on Tuesday, 15th September, 2015, in an interactive session, advised them to be punctual to work and avoid any act that will attract queries as such files will be made reference to in days of reckoning, adding that now that the Federal Government is hammering on downsizing, it will be a bad day for those who have queries in their files, as that would be the first point of call during such an exercise.

The zonal director reminded staffers that the official working hours are from 8.00am to 4.00pm every working day, and that they should always adhere to that, stressing that attendance is compulsory and staffers should sign in and out, respectively, as proof of their attendance.

He further warned that, staff members who are not serious with their work will not merit any personal favour or approvals from his office, and charged them, particularly those with only ‘O’ level certificates, to upgrade to enable them grow in the service, as well as be conversant with NICO rules and regulations to help them improve on the job and also to pass their promotion exams.

Campbell also used the opportunity to intimate them on programmes to be carried out by the zone in the last quarter of the year, ranging from in-house workshop on ‘Administrative Principles, Process and Practice’ to ‘Children Cultural Extravaganza,’ and ‘Media Workshop for Arts Writers and Editors,’ which will come up by November ending, shortly before the Governorship Elections in the state.

The Head of Administration and Human Resources in the zonal office, Mr. Ebi Asene, also urged staffers to conduct themselves well while at work. noting that absentees will be penalized accordingly, advising them to desist from submitting false medical reports to the office even when they are not sick, as this will not go down well with them in future.

There were questions from staffers in the interactive session and answers to such questions and satisfactory explanations were given by the Zonal Director.
