Starting Monday, 7th December, 2015, postgraduate students of the National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO) Training School will begin the defence of their research projects submitted in partial fulfilment of the Institute’s requirement for the award of the Postgraduate Diploma in Cultural Administration (PGDCA).
The project defence sessions will hold in Lecture Hall I of NICO Training School Complex, National Arts Theatre Annex, Iganmu-Lagos on Monday and Tuesday, that is, 7-8 December, 2015; while those in the Abuja Study Centre will have theirs on Thursday and Friday, that is, 10-11 December, 2015.
The essence of project defence, according to the Director, NICO Training School, Lagos, Mrs. Brigitte Yerima, is to ascertain the originality and valid contributions of the projects to development of Nigerian culture, as NICO is focused on building the capacity of the culture sector in order to transform cultural assets into economic benefits.
The Director added that the students needed to defend their academic research works in order to show that the works were actually done by them independently and without resorting to plagiarism.
NICO Training School, in the 2014/2015 Academic session, enrolled a total of 45 students for both the Postgraduate Diploma/Diploma in Cultural Administration programmes in the Lagos Centre and 24 Postgraduate Diploma in Cultural Administration programme in the Abuja Study Centre.
All the postgraduate diploma students are expected to face the academic panel to defend their research works.
