altThe British Council has expressed its determination to assist in building the capacity of Nigerian Cultural Workers, saying culture has a great role to play in the economic development of the nation.

Chief Executive Officer of the British Council, Mr. Martins Davidson made this known on Thursday, October 10, 2013, during a courtesy call on the Honourable Minister of Tourism, Culture and National Orientation, Chief Edem Duke in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

Davidson, who disclosed that Britain is also willing to offer technical assistance to Nigeria in the resuscitation of her museums and theatre centres across the country, assured the minister of greater collaboration with the ministry towards developing Nigeria’s cultural industry.

In his response, the Honourable Minister of Tourism, Culture and National Orientation, Chief Edem Duke, while expressing deep appreciation for the courtesy call on him by the Chief Executive of the British Council and his promises, further solicited Britain’s support in the fourth-coming Nigeria Culture Week in China, as well as Britain’s participation in the annual Abuja Carnival.
