The Director, National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO) South-South Zonal Office, Mr. Nelson Ebi Campbell, has said that the NICO Weekend Indigenous Language Programme of the Institute is commendable as it gives an additional platform for Nigerians to learn languages of their choice.

Campbell, who stated this on Tuesday, 25th October, 2016, during a General Staff Meeting held in the zone, expressed satisfaction on the turnout of participants, assuring that the programme will be relocated from the present venue, which is the Zonal Office Complex, located at No. 51 Imgbi Road, Amarata, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

bameetHe said considering the turnout of participants for the programme from various Federal Government Agencies in the state, including the DSS, NDLEA, National Identity Management Commission, Public Complaint Commission, Federal Medical Centre,  Technology Incubation Centre, Federal Ministry of Power, Housing and Works, Nigeria Prison Service, as well as the general  Public, there was urgent need to relocate the venue of the programme to a bigger space, preferably, one of the nearby Secondary Schools, in order to create a more conducive environment for learning.

He also commended the Corporate Affairs Unit and the entire staffers of the zone for carrying out good publicity for the programme in the zone, which, according to him, brought about the encouraging registration of participants for the programme.

In another development, the Zonal Director regretted the challenges facing the office and staff service delivery as a result of an earlier incident of theft of office equipment sometime ago, assuring staffers that arraignments were at advanced stage on how to gradually replace the stolen items starting with computers and printers.

While commending staffers for taking their work serious, the Director urged them to always think of what they can contribute to move NICO forward, and also charged them to make the best use of their working age in making positive impacts in the system, which will live after them when they would no longer in service.
