The Honourable Minister of Culture, Tourism and National Orientation, High Chief Edem Duke, has reminded the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Ibikun Odusote, Heads of Parastatals and Directors in the Ministry, to ensure that they are committed to the task of delivering results to Nigerians through effective service delivery.
Chief Duke, who stated this in his Office, at the Federal Secretariat, Abuja-FCT, during the signing of Performance Agreements between the Permanent Secretary and Heads of Parastatals with the Minister, and the Permanent Secretary with the Directors in the Ministry, also told the Chief Executives of the Parastatals that Nigerians expect robust achievements from their services, adding that it was very important for them to remember that signing the Agreement was to show that they had agreed to achieve the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) mapped out for them in consultation with the National Planning Commission.
He said: “The signing of this Performance Agreement is robust and momentous. It marks the resolve to deliver results to Nigeria. I assure you that this is our commitment to work for Nigeria in helping to realize the Transformation Agenda. It is just for us to be focused and accountable. I expect that this process will provide an opportunity for us to see our primary goal as serving the people. And we must achieve the task.”
Continuing, Chief Duke stressed that agreeing to serve the people, means entering into a Performance Agreement with the Minister, who in turn agreed with Mr. President, to achieve the KPIs, “which helps us in measuring organizational goals. We rely on KPI to ensure performance. I signed with His Excellency, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, on your behalf; and you are now signing with me. We must, by this signing, ensure that we achieve our targets. The agreement we signed has shown our understanding of our performances.”
Chief Executives of Parastatals that signed their Performance Agreements include, the Director-General of Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC), Otunba Segun Runsewe; the Director-General of National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mr. Mike Omeri; the Executive Secretary of National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO), Dr. Barclays Foubiri Ayakoroma; the Director-General of National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR), Alhaji Munzali Dantata; the Artistic Director of National Troupe of Nigeria (NTN), Mr. Martin Adaji; the Director-General of National Commission for Museums and Monuments (NCMM), Alhaji Abdallah Usman; the General Manager of National Theatre (NT), Alhaji Kabir Yar’Adua; the Director-General of National Gallery of Art (NGA), Alhaji Abdullahi Muku; and the Executive Director of National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC), Mr. M.M.
