Management and Staff in the Office of the Executive Secretary, National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO) on Friday, October 2, 2020 organized a modest and surprise birthday for the ES, Mr. Ado Muhammed Yahuza.
At the brief ceremony held in his office, Yahuza expressed deep appreciation for the show of love and kind gesture, saying he has never celebrated a birthday before in his life “I must tell you I am really honoured with your kind gesture. Like I told you, I have never done a birthday in my life, not because I don’t want to do it but for me, every morning I wake up from sleep, I thank God for life”, he said.
While stressing that his reservation about celebrating birthdays is personal, the NICO Boss said as a leader, he is obliged to submit himself to the believe of the environment he has found himself.
He therefore reiterated his resolve that by the grace of God Almighty, he will not disappoint staff as the ES of NICO, stressing that his desire is to ensure he leaves legacies and landmark achievements for the Institute by the time he ends his tenure.
Earlier speaking on behalf of Management and Staff, the Director, Training School, Mrs Brigitte Yerima said every birthday is a milestone and an addition to life which is worth celebrating. According to her, celebrating the ES on his first birthday in NICO is a technical way of welcoming him to the Institute and to let him know how things are done.
She recalled her last birthday experience when staff in the Office of the ES, organized such a surprise birthday package for her as Director Overseeing the Office, saying it has been a tradition in the Office of the ES.
In her words “I met this tradition on ground. The truth is when I came into the office and saw the door open, I had to run out because I wasn’t expecting people so actually ran back but of a truth, it was a pleasant surprise”.
Highlights of the brief celebration were the cutting of cakes by the ES, toast and group pictures with Management and Staff.
Other Management Staff present at the birthday celebration were Mr. Alex Omijie (Director, Orientation & Cultural Affairs); Mr. Ibrahim Hussaini (Director, Admin & Human Resources); Mr. Mike Ekoko (Director, Research & Documentation); and Mr. Herbert Ogbe (Head, Finance & Accounts)
