Overwhelmed by the laudable initiatives of the National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO), especially the Nigerian Indigenous Language Programme (NILP), the General Manager, Radio Bayelsa, Mr. Okpoitari Diongoli, has called on the Management of NICO to run a centralized radio programme to promote its activities.
Mr. Diongoli made this call when the management of NICO, led by the Executive Secretary, Dr. Barclays Ayakoroma, paid him a courtesy visit in his office at Azikoro Road, Ekeki, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
Diongoli, who informed that he has been following Ayakoroma on facebook, thanked him and his entourage for the visit and added, “I must confess you are doing a good job”.
The General Manager noted that before now nothing was known about NICO, stating that Ayakoroma’s appointment is well deserved and promised to partner with him to promote the programmes of the Institute.
The Executive Secretary had earlier informed Mr. Diongoli that he was in Yenagoa for the opening ceremony of the 3rd edition of the Nigerian Indigenous Language Programme (NILP) in the South-South Zone, and used the opportunity to intimate the GM on the various programmes run by NICO, especially the Cultural Clubs in Schools Project and the Media Workshop for Arts Writers and Editors. He then invited the General Manager to the next edition of the Media workshop, which holds in Abuja on August 23, 2011.
The NICO team had earlier paid a courtesy call on the General Manager of African Independent Television (AIT), Yenagoa, Mr. Bari Peremongu, and the Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Bayelsa State Council, Mr. Tarinyo Akono.
In the entourage of the Executive Secretary were some Directors: Barr. Abayomi Oyelola mni (Admin & Human Resources), Prince Bamidele Olusa (Orientation & Cultural Affairs), Hon. Nelson Campbell (SA-ES), Mr. Godson Ordu (Finance & Accounts), and Alex Omijie (Protocol).
