Nigerians have been invited to apply for the Ibsen scholarship 2012 Award by the Permanent Delegate of Norway to United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Hilde Guri Bohlin.
The award was initiated by the Norwegian Government to reward individuals, organizations or institution within the artistic and cultural community, for innovative projects in the field of drama and performing arts.
A letter to National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO) from the Nigerian National Commission for UNESCO (NATCOM-UNESCO), Federal Ministry of Education, signed by Mrs. M.O.Anene-Maido:, for the Honourable Minister for Education, states that the award was also for projects that act as incentives for critical discourse on existential and society-related subject matters concerning Henrik Ibsen and his plays.
The Scholarship funds amount to 1,000,000 NOK (approximately 130,000 Euros/170,000 US Dollars). Interested and qualified candidates are to apply online on or before 30th April, 2012.
The winners of the 2012 award will be presented at the Skein International Ibsen Conference on 10th and 11th September, 2012, in Skein, Norway.
