Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has accepted the request of the Management of the National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO), to serve as Chairman at a Two-Day National Conference to be organized by the Institute.
The Executive Secretary of NICO, Dr. Barclays Foubiri Ayakoroma, was on Friday, April 5, 2012, at the former President’s Hilltop residence in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, to formally request Obasanjo’s presence at the Conference and to further act as Chairman of Occasion.
Ayakoroma, in his usual style, briefed the former President on the activities of the Institute with particular emphasis on the conference, which has as theme: “Culture, Peace and National Security in Nigeria: The Role of Local Government Chairmen and Traditional Rulers.
Obasanjo has since accepted to grace the occasion and also act as chairman at the conference which is designed to sensitize Local Government Administrators and Traditional Rulers to their roles especially on the culture of security.
The conference, which is scheduled to hold on May 7th-8th, 2012, at the Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, is expected to be declared open by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, while The Chief Servant of Niger State, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, will present the keynote address.
On the entourage of the Executive Secretary was his Special Assistant/Deputy Director, Hon. Nelson Campbell.
