Fascinating Nigeria, a new tourism brand identity for the culture and tourism sector in Nigeria, will be unveiled at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, by the President of the Federal Republic Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.
The Honourable Minister for Culture, Tourism and National Orientation, Chief Edem Duke, who stated this while inaugurating the National Heritage Council and Endowment for the Arts, said that the event, which will take place on Thursday, 4th July 2013, at 7pm, will be celebrated in grand style.
The First Lady of the Federal Republic Nigeria, Dame Dr. Patience Goodluck Jonathan, who is the President of African First Ladies’ Peace Mission, and Nigeria’s Tourism Ambassador will also grace the august occasion.
According to the Minister, the brand will drive the wonderful promotion and projection the Nigerian government has given to the culture and tourism sector and also show that Nigeria has abundant tourism assets known all over Africa and beyond.
Chief Duke said the brand identity will put Nigeria at par with countries like South Africa with “It’s Possible” as its brand identity, India’s “Incredible India,” and Malaysia with “Truly Asia,” adding that it will showcase several windows that make Nigeria really fascinating, ranging from the resilient people, to the beautiful landscape, extensive cultural diversity and literature, among others endowments.
He said further: “As Nigeria nears its centenary celebrations in January 2014, the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and National Orientation is poised to make unique history and celebrate the diversity of a great nation: its beauty, significance, magnitude. The exclusive occasion will showcase the best of Nigeria – artists, musicians, performers, comedians, poets, footballers, fashion designers and food.”
It will be recalled that at the Ministerial Platform recently, the Minister had demonstrated what Fascinating Nigeria was all about by showing a two-minute documentary on Nigerian landscapes and tourist potentials, where he urged Nigerians to join hands with President Jonathan’s administration at strengthening the abundant tourist potentials to transform the country.
