Staff of the National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO), South-South Zonal Office, rolled out the drums to celebrate the outgoing head of the zone, Mr. Mike Ekoko, in a colourful emotion-packed event, just as they formally received the new zonal head, Mr. James Imohiosen, who was before now the head of the North-Central Zone.
Speaking at the occasion, chairman of the Zonal Staff Welfare Committee, Mr. Ene Robert, extolled the enviable qualities of Mr. Ekoko, noting that he brought astronomical changes to the zonal office.
According to Mr. Ene, it was during the era of Ekoko that the Zonal Office was moved to a befitting place, adding that the outgoing head taught staff civil service rules and guidelines.
In her goodwill message, the Head of Research and Documentation, Miss Orusoso Opukuma, also poured encomiums on the outgoing zonal head, describing him as a gentleman and a workaholic, who delights in accomplishing set targets.
Also speaking, the Head, Orientation and Cultural affairs, Miss Gloria Ephraim, narrated how she had benefited from the inexhaustible reservoir of knowledge and experience of the outgoing zonal head, saying that staff will miss him.
Expressing appreciation for the glowing tributes, Mr. Ekoko, who was apparently overwhelmed with the show of love demonstrated by the colourful event, stated that he has had good working relationship with all the staff of the zone, and urged them to extend the same goodwill and support to the new zonal head, Mr. James Imohiosen.
On his part, Mr. Imohiosen admonished staff to give him all the necessary support to take the zone to the next level.
Mr. Mike Ekoko, an Assistant Director, who was posted to the South-South Zonal Office in December 2009 as zonal head will now resume in the Research and Documentation Unit, at the Institute’s head office in Abuja.
