In a bid to reposition the Nigerian Tourism and Hospitality industry, especially as it relates to local and international patronage, the Federal Ministry of Tourism, Culture and National Orientation, is organizing a two-day meeting of critical stakeholders from the 36 States of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
The meeting, which is scheduled from Thursday, 18th to Friday, 19th September, 2014 at Nanet Suites and Hotel, Central Business District, Abuja, by 9am daily, will be under the distinguished chairmanship of the Honourable Minister of Tourism, Culture and National Orientation, Chief Edem Duke.
A letter of invitation, signed by Dr. Paul Adalikwu, Director of Domestic Tourism in the Ministry, stated that the meeting of stakeholders in the industry was to further champion the course and recommendation made at the end of the 1st Meeting of Commissioners/Directors held in Abuja on the 23rd and 24th of July, 2013, adding that: “There is need for the Ministry to strengthen its collaboration with all tourism stakeholders to synergize efforts toward development of the country’s vast tourism resources.”
The meeting which is the first of its kind will provide a veritable platform for interaction and exchange of ideas on repositioning the Nigerian Tourism and Hospitality Industry for the better.
The National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO), as a major stakeholder in the industry, is expected to participate in the 2-day Tourism Talk Shop.
