Annang Festival of Arts and Culture

Celebrated in Ikot Ekpene, the Annang Festival of Arts and Culture was initiated in 2016 to preserve and promote the heritage of the Annang people. This annual festival showcases a plethora of cultural activities, including:

• Masquerade Displays: Featuring over 800 spectacular masquerades, each representing different ancestral spirits and societal roles.

• Warrior Parades: Demonstrations of traditional Annang warriors, highlighting historical defense tactics and regalia.

• Drum Ensembles: Performances by ensembles featuring over 5,000 traditional African drums, creating a rhythmic ambiance that resonates with the audience.

Arts and Crafts Exhibitions: Showcasing intricate beadwork, sculptures, and other crafts that narrate the Annang people’s stories and traditions.

The festival not only serves as a cultural preservation initiative but also attracts tourists, thereby boosting local economies.
