altThe Executive Secretary of National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO), Dr. Barclays Foubiri Ayakoroma, has said that economic development of our local communities will reduce rural-urban migration, adding that most of the problems Nigeria is facing as a nation are tied to the issue of lack of development.

Stating this during a press briefing on the Institute’s forthcoming National workshop on Culture in the Transformation Agenda, Dr. Ayakoroma opined that if the youth see meaningful development in their local communities, the restiveness that is experienced on a high scale will be reduced considerably.

According to him, the workshop with the theme, “Culture and the Socio-Economic Transformation of Local Governments in Nigeria: Setting an Agenda for Development,” will expose our Local Government Administrators to global trends in effective management of the local government system and also explore ways and means of developing our communities, so that we can work towards ensuring sustainable peace and security in our nation.

The workshop will hold on the 8th and 9th of October, 2012, at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.
